Best Practice N°51- Level3- Section hyperlinks

Description

The main language used on the target pages is stated when it is different from the current page.

Objectives

Warn the user of links in a foreign language and minimize pointless clicks.

Possible technical solutions:

Use the hreflangattribute to mark the main language of the target document.

To make this information stand out on user agents that don’t display it directly to the user, it is possible to consider using - amongst other solutions -CSS together with the duplication of this information in the title attribute.

Control methods:

Check that links to sites which a re in a language that differs from the current site are marked up as such.

Put these Best Practices to use.
